But no one has seen the conservatives at all. I know Mr Cameron says 'no opposition for oppostion sake' however you won't expect the offical opposition, just to drop off the radar completely. Or is this 'no substance' conservatism as usual, because they don't know what they would do if they were in power.

 Comments

another day another dollar

Or another day another lost dollar, well thats true if your a UK council. But at the end of the day the british tax payer will be the loser in this credit crunch. The british tax payer will also be left holding the baby as regards the lastest bank bail out. If the bail out goes wrong this could cost taxpayer some money. The capitalist system seems to be in need of some repair, however i don't think socialism is the answer.

Anyway the book is 'Who runs Britain?' by Robert Peston. This book caught my eye because of its distinctive cover. Anyway if any of you guys have read it please let me know what you thought of the book.

 Comments

oh dear more money problems

oh dear apprently another bank rescue plan is on the way, after bank shares fell sharply. Are we really in recession?, how much further will the credit crunch go?, how will it effect the average working man on the street?

There seem to be two main schools of thought on this issue, some say it is a crisis of confidence. Others say it is a crisis invented bu the media. Well what ever your own personal opinion is, it is certain that this is the first BIG test of Gordon Brown's leadership. if GB does not swifty rescue the situation then i think his leadership could we be over by spring. oh well we will have to see what tomorrows rescue plan brings.

P.S. yeah em the one piece of godd news petrol was £1.09 a litre today, that's seems quite a bit cheaper then a few weeks ago.

 Comments

Bank Bail Outs

Just thinking aloud guys,
If the Irish and German goverments appear to be guaranteing all deposits in their bank accounts then why can't are goverment do the same? after all the goverment says it will do what ever it takes, and that are money is safe anyway. Well if are money is safe it won't cost the goverment any thing to guarantee something which is safe. It does beg a question doesn't it? At the moment we seem to have a two tier system as far as guarantees go, because Northern Rock deposits are guaranteed by the goverment. The rest of us are only guaranteed are first fifty thousand pounds.

 Comments

Check list for the Prime Minister

Number One, Party conference speech completed. Better then expected proformance, held the novice (David Miliband) back for now. But serious improvement is required to stop the leadership question coming up again and again.

Number Two, Cabinet reshuffle nearly complete. Brought back Maddy, hoping he will make a few more cock ups which will distract from my own failing. A bit of dead wood removed, but also a few trouble makers brought back in. Hopefully with the likes of Maddy back on board will keep the 'Blairites' at bay.

Finally Number Three, World Wide credit crunch crises in progress which will make the back benchers hesitate before asking for my job. Because who would want to come into office to sort out a failing econamy, I bet even the conservatives are secretly hoping they don't come to power in the next couple of years. Who would want to sort out the current mess.

Who knows what the next six months will bring.

I will attempt to give you my thoughts on what goes on in Westminister and oh maybe Brussels to. If i ever get that far, although might need a phd in law to understand there crazy goings on.

Let me tell you a bit about me, I am a 24 year old guy who has an interest in politics (but have no real expertise in politics). I study law on a part time basis, which gives me some knowledge of the legislative process. I also have a full time (low paid) job. Which i suppose means i should be a labour voter but i don't really have any political alegionse.

Any way ia i am sure we'll have fun a long the way, why not check out some of my posts.
